Coronavirus Travel Advice

Although there is world-wide concern at the spread of this virus, along with many others we here at Invicta House B&B are taking steps to counter the spread of Covid-19.  We wish to assure both guests and potential guests that all our public areas are cleaned on a daily basis with antibacterial cleanser on all hard surfaces, the carpets shampooed regularly and our already-stringent cleaning regime enhanced to the highest standards.

The rooms are likewise aired daily and cleaned with hard surface antibacterial cleanser, the windows cleaned inside and out, the showers and drains thoroughly cleaned and hair removed.  The carpets are shampooed weekly and vacuumed daily, and the soft furnishings sprayed with antibacterial foam daily.

Bedding, table linen, napkins and towels are being washed in professional antibacterial powder and will continue to be done so henceforth.  Bedding is changed every time a room is vacated, usually daily and always when the previous occupier checks out.

Additionally, this area of Scotland is known the quality of clean air, among the cleanest air in the United Kingdom.  If you travel here when the leaves are off the trees, you will see many trees bearing green, thick algae, not quite so visible when the trees are in leaf.  This algae acts as a purifier and filters the air naturally; the resulting air quality is known to be among the best available.  Golspie and the surrounding area once boasted no less than three hospitals for patients recovering from Tuberculosis, such is the quality of the Sutherland air.

We hope to welcome you to a safe Scotland very soon; with your help we will keep it safe for all to enjoy.

Welcome to Invicta House

Having opened our doors for the first time in summer 2015, our single room (Clynelish) was refurbished again in January 2017 and our double room (Balmenach) refurbished in January 2019.  Our twin bedded room (Ardbeg) will be closed in April 2019 for refurbishment, to include a new carpet and anti-slip flooring on the en-suite shower room. Invicta House B&B offers a Highlands welcome for visitors whether staying just one night or longer.  We are dog-friendly and offer two ground floor rooms with en-suite bathroom facilities and one single room on the first floor with shared bathroom.  Situated just 300 yards off the A9 road, we are in a perfect location for walkers, cyclists and motorists alike who may be tackling the North Coast 500 or Land's End to John O'Groats challenges; we offer ample (dry) overnight storage for bikes and camping gear and are just a few minutes' walk into the village centre.

All rooms feature Freeview TV, free Wi-Fi internet connection, hair dryer and complimentary tea, coffee and biscuit tray.

Golspie is an ideal base for touring the far north of Scotland, ideal for bird watching, walking, cycling, mountain biking, fishing and golf – all the outdoor activities for which the Highlands is world famous.  We have teamed up with Golspie Golf Club in a local initiative to promote golf on this magnificent yet underused links course which is almost on our front doorstep; we are now able to offer a substantial discount voucher to all our guests who would like to play there - for full details, see the 'Golspie Golf Club' page on this website .  In the summer months, there is plenty of sightseeing to do as well – the ancestral home of the Dukes of Sutherland, Dunrobin Castle, is in the village just 5 minutes in the car from Invicta House or one stop on the train which runs from our back garden – Golspie railway station is literally 30 seconds from our back garden gates!  If Single Malt whisky appeals, there are a number of superb distilleries within easy reach, each brand with their own distinct character and unique palate.

It cannot be stressed too much how great the need to pre-book your accommodation in The Highlands is: the summer months frequently see all temporary accommodation in the area sell out, and the NC500 has proved exceptionally popular, especially with cyclists and walkers.  It is essential to book in advance during peak season (June - September) otherwise you may struggle to find any accommodation at all.

We accept Visa & Mastercard Credit/Debit cards, American Express, JCB and cash.  We do not accept cheques unless by prior arrangement, nor do we accept Eurocheques under any circumstances.  We are pleased to feature on a number of independent tourism websites : Bed & Breakfast, North Coast 500, and Trip Advisor - check them out at,, and respectively.  North Coast 500 is an especially good site for planning touring holidays north of Inverness.

Welcome to the Invicta House website; we hope to see you here very soon, and that you’ll want to come back again and again.  There really is nowhere quite like the Highlands of Scotland!
